Unlike previous editions, this year’s Surgical Innovations Mid-Year Meeting was 100% online. However, the meeting format remained the same: 4-day meetings, including morning and afternoon sessions.
Due to the online format of this year’s meeting, it was possible to add more content. Therefore, besides presentations for local teams, regional teams, and business enablers, new sessions such as The Boldest, Innovation Workshop, and Guest Speaker were included.
Moreover, this year’s meeting had the pleasure of welcoming, for the first time, sales representatives as attendees for The Boldest contest. The Boldest Contest, in fact, was the meeting’s highlight. There were 8 finalists, of which 2 LATAM Winners would be chosen. After all the victors were chosen among the 8 finalists’ videos, we were happy to announce that Nicholas Verdecchia, from Argentina, and Catalina Arenas, from Colombia, were the winners and will have their projects implemented in all LATAM.

Furthermore, for the first time this year, an external guest speaker, Eduardo Kastika, hosted an innovation workshop based on the Be Bold, Get Gold behaviors. Kastika showed the attendees how to develop innovative ideas. The attendees, afterwards, also participated in breakout sessions about how to generate innovative ideas. Our congratulations to one group who was really inspired and created the “Aya Whisky”, winning as the most innovative idea.
On the third day, we had the pleasure to hear Amyr Klink’s unique stories. Amyr Klink is a famous Brazilian sailor and explorer who sailed by himself over ten times to the Antarctic and Arctic Poles. He told us about his journeys and, most importantly, about how crucial it is to be a risk taker, to be consistent, and to be optimistic in order to reach our goals. Furthermore, Klink told us about the numerous challenges he faced and how he never gave up. At the end of the presentation, attendees were not only inspired by his stories, but also convinced that all manner of effort is worthy in order to reach your goals.
Finally, on the last day, the regional team hosted the FY21 BE BOLD GET GOLD Awards. Finding out the winners was a surprise for everyone! Congratulations to all the following winners for a well-deserved victory:
